Hello Students,
Many LFBI students learn about this way too late, so we want to direct your attention now so you can plan your coursework accordingly. As you likely already know, every student needs 60 credit hours to complete the Associate of Divinity degree: 5-7 credits of Foundations, 24 credits of Bible Essentials, 26 credits of Leadership Prep, and 5-7 credits of Electives.
What many students don't know is that if you emphasize one category of Elective courses you can specialize your degree. You can choose from Ministry Leadership, Missiology, Biblical Studies, Theology & History or Biblical Counseling. If you complete all of the courses listed in each category alongside your Associate of Divinity, you will receive a "Design of Emphasis" award stating that LFBI recognizes you as proficient in your content area. Another way of thinking about it is that it is like graduating with a "major". It's not required, but it does give you an opportunity to dig deep on the subject area you are most interested in.
If you have questions about the "Design of Emphasis" check out the Program of Study page on our website and/or contact our Advisory Dept.
